Chapter 34. Tragedy Is Queen

Sitting on the throne, I stare blankly at the motionless crowd. Their eyes accuse me yet none of them seem to have the balls to challenge me. The eerie silence intertwines with the palpable tension in the room, creating an atmosphere that causes my insides to remain restless. It is evident that despite the frivolities of the late queen, she was loved by the people.
After a while that seemed like eternity, Qin strides forward, climbing the steps of the platform and taking her place by my right hand.
“Does anyone wish to express any concerns?” she begins, but her voice echoes back to her as if the numerous people lined up by each side of the red aisle are nothing but hollow sculptures.
“You must speak now or forever hold your peace,” she adds, but still no one responds. “Good, then all of you are hereby, dismissed…”
“Murderers!” A grief-laden hoarse voice yells from amongst the people, seemingly stopping everyone from moving. My eyes begin to search
