Chapter 28. Battle Cry
CYRUS
The sun peeps out from a patch in the clouds, announcing the arrival of day and gracing the prevalent cold morning ambiance with its comforting warmth, while the ethereal smell of peace remains far from the expanse.
The streets are scanty compared to when I first arrived, and the sound of ringing bells echoes from a distance as I slither on toward the enormous city gate, which is a few blocks away from my current location.
Eight days have passed since my mysterious escape from the prison cell, and I stay lurking in darker corners of the big city, hidden in a cloak. The truth is that it is more difficult to escape from Iridu than to enter it.
As I finally reach the square in front of the wall, I see a long queue of people, fully clad in different shades of robes, carrying huge luggage and bags.
