Chapter 52. Lost in Time
CYRUS
Inside the temple is a hollow enclosure, eerie and silent, with a mild outlandish scent. As I am led on by Alastair, my heart drowns in freight as the light fades out giving way to absolute darkness since the glowing plants are no longer available here.
“Stop,” I halt. “Forgive me but I can go no further…” The echoes generated by my voice ripple through the space, repeating itself severally before finally disappearing into a horrid lull.
Suddenly a faint flicker of light appears, then steadies to reveal Alastair’s face. I pass my gaze to his outstretched palm, the source. I see two radiant white seeds.
“I can see you’re afraid of the dark, Ascender,” he utters.
“I am not.”
“Take these anyways, they will lighten your path.”
I hurriedly collect the small round seeds from him. Admiring their beauty for a while before looking up to Alastair again. “What are these?”
