Chapter 145. Torment
I crawled over to the bowl of water, my hands shaking as I lifted it to my lips. It was lukewarm and tasted stale, but I drank eagerly, trying to quench the thirst that had been gnawing at me.
I was really hungry and had expected some food but this was going to have to do. For now.
As I drank, my mind raced with thoughts of escape, of finding a way out of this nightmare. But with every passing moment, it became clearer that I was truly trapped, at the mercy of the Kingstons.
I missed Chris, I missed his arms. I missed his embrace. I missed his kiss. I missed the feeling of being loved and protected. I missed my husband. Where was he? Was he trying his best to figure out where I was?
Did he know that I was slowly dying in this small prison? Did he know that I needed him like never before?
