Chapter 16. A Tense Encounter

Linda’s POV

It was like I was not even in the room anymore. The words on the small white note danced in my eyes, causing my heart to race. 

I gulped, proceeding to read it again. And it read: ‘Hi, Mrs. Kingston. I hope you are doing well, dear. Especially considering your new murder charge against your ex. You see, everyone pays for their sins, and you dear, you’re certainly going to pay. 

I know you did not kill Mitch, but I swear on my life that I will make sure everyone believes that. I am going to give you three business days to figure out who I am. And if you can’t? Well, another person dies. Have a good night, babe! :)’

What the hell? What the actual hell?! 

My hands were shaking as I read it one more time, especially the part that talked about someone dying again. It shook me to my bones. The first thing that came to my mind was going to the police. 

Or maybe even Chris. 

But I was scared, because considering
