Chapter 14

I hugged myself, my legs crossed over each other, as I sat on my bed. It was already nighttime, but I had no intention of going downstairs.
"You good?" I heard someone ask behind me, making me jump. I hadn't heard the door open.
"Hey," I whispered, ignoring the scent of lavender which filled my nostrils at his entrance. Sweet Kaden's scent.
"Hey, yourself. You disappeared after the meeting. Are you fine?" My heart skipped a beat at his words.
'He cared.'
"Yeah, just tired, I guess." I shrugged, and clasped my hands together. Sitting beside him or being anywhere close to him, was pure torture. Worse still, he was acting like he wasn't affected in the least.
I hadn't expected him to announce to the pack, that I was his mate.
"Is there something you'd like to tell me?" I asked, focusing my attention on the window. He sighed, and sat beside me, his weight pushing that side of the bed down.
