Voices... More voices... Darkness...

"Say goodbye to your parents for me," Then, a loud cackle. I knew that voice. It was my father's. I tried running away, but my mind was muddled.

And then, another voice tugged at my consciousness. "Amber, wake up. Please don't leave me." Sobs. I wondered why the voice hurt me so much.

After a while, it all faded...

When I woke up, a figure was seated close to me, on a chair. "Hey," I croaked.

He steered.

"You are awake?" He sat up, and grabbed at my hands with twinkling eyes.

Before I could say a word, Kaden engulfed me in his embrace. "Thank the goddess." We remained in that position for a while, and then he pulled away.

"How do you feel?" He asked, looking me over.

"Well...normal?" I said it in a questioning manner. "What happened? I need a glass of water." I forced the words out with difficulty.
