Chapter 101. Unexpected Meeting with My Mate

Amy’s Pov

The night had already fallen by the time I finally managed to put on my party dress. Every movement is a battle against the exhaustion that seems to weigh on my shoulders as if every muscle in my body is tired. My breathing is heavy, and the fatigue in my body is almost palpable. I take a deep breath and wait a few minutes before putting on my shoes and finishing styling my hair. The shoes slide onto my feet, they are comfortable and suitable for me to move around without leg pains. I make sure not to trip over my discarded slippers and other shoes as I finish fixing my hair. I observe the pale reflection staring back at me in the bathroom mirror. My skin is almost translucent in the soft light of the room.

"I won't go to my best friend's wedding as a ghost," I declare to my reflection in the mirror.

I decide to add just a touch of color with subtle makeup, accentuating my pronounced cheekbones and thin lips.
