Emily’s Pov

"I'll watch her; don't worry," Alex informs Edgar. The giant black wolf gets off Nina; for a moment, he blends into the shadows, almost disappearing completely, and only his eyes, as red as blood, shine in my direction.

There's an enchantment in watching my mate's wolf; Lily is ecstatic to see Edgar again, my animal side wants to flourish. I fix my eyes on every move Edgar makes toward me; I admire his dark fur and the lethal sharp fangs that are exposed when he growls.

I'm pulled out of my enchantment by a weak and painful groan from Amy; I realize her breathing has stabilized, however, Amy is burning with fever, a trail of sweat trickles from her forehead down the rest of her body, even wetting her hair.

"She's dying," I declare in fear.
