“Way better now.” Gabriel sat up slightly, his face half-lit in the dim light. His deep eyes locked onto Lilah. “Grandma mentioned she might stop by at Ashbourne Manor.”

“Really? When?” Under the flickering lights, Lilah’s eyes sparkled with excitement like stars in the night sky.

Gabriel didn’t answer right away.

He leaned back again, letting his handsome face fall back into the shadows. “Depends on what she decides.”

Truth was, he didn’t like people from the main family coming over.

But if she wanted to—

An occasional visit wouldn’t hurt.

“Remind Grandma that medicine only works if she sticks with it. Tell her two full courses and the headaches should clear up for good.”

Lilah had left the prescription last time, hoping Sandra still had a soft spot for her.

Turns out—she did.

She actually used it.

“Mhm.”

Gabriel responded simply, then stayed quiet.
