Xerina’s POV
Chrissy was beside me, her fingers trembling as they grasped my palms. Her eyes were wide, shimmering with unshed tears. I could see the fear etched into her features, the way she looked at me like I might break at any moment.
Her voice wavered as she whispered, “You scared me, you know? I thought—”
I rolled my eyes, trying to ease her worry, even though the exhaustion weighed heavily on my body.
“I’m fine,” I muttered, forcing a weak smile. “Just tired, that’s all.”
But Chrissy wasn’t convinced. Her grip tightened, her lips pressing into a thin line as she studied my face, searching for any sign that I might not be telling the truth.
Aura was sitting on the floor beside the couch, her arms crossed over her chest. She was watching me with a mixture of concern and irritation, her gaze flicking between Chrissy and me.
