Chapter 70. Lost Woman

Xerina’s POV

I skipped dinner. I didn’t feel like eating anything. Though I knew my parents would be worried, I couldn’t bring myself to that place where everyone looked like they were ready to kill each other. The hatred was too much for my poor soul. Hah, when would this world become a better place?

Once again, I found myself in the gardens.

I hadn’t seen Rasmus after he practically forced me to sleep with him. I wanted to thank him for the clothes but one of the guards said he was in the meeting discussing tomorrow’s ritual. It was a strength trial. Rasmus had to defeat more than ten Alphas, the strongest ones at that, to secure his position as the Alpha of Alphas. That included Leon and Zane too. Though I didn’t know about the other eight, I heard from one of the workers that they were brutal and merciless.

My fingers trailed along the petals of a rose. The softness was startling compared to the sharp thorns that pricked my skin.
