Chrissy was by my side in an instant and she shook her head at him. “Luca, please,” she pleaded, but he didn’t even glance at her, his focus entirely on me.
I swallowed hard, my mind racing. “Luca, it’s not what you think—”
“Then what is it?” he growled, his grip tightening just slightly. “Because right now, it sounds like you’re hiding something big, and if it’s as serious as I think it is, you know I won’t let it slide.”
