I looked over at Kayden whose eyes were already swollen with tears. He wiped the last of his tears and surprised me with his answer. "No. I'm not as strong as my mother apparently wanted me to be. I don't think I'll be able to take it. Just tell me something, did she suffer before she died?" Kayden questioned, looking Voithós straight in the eyes.
"Apart from suffering the pain of being separated from the children she loved so much and the agony of losing her soul little by little, her death was quick and painless. When she realized it was finally time, she smiled and prayed silently that goddess Selene would watch over and protect you and your brother and then she closed her eyes and fell into an eternal sleep." Voithós explained and Kayden nodded.
Everything that was going on only terrified me. I had no idea what Kayden could possibly be thinking. He doesn't seem to do well with grief and I just hope he can handle it properly.
