Chapter 21

Daphne

A banging sound from downstairs jolted me awake, and I immediately heard my mum chastising Daisy for making so much noise when she knows that I’m still sleeping.

For a split second, my heart raced—my body reacting before my mind could catch up. I lay still, listening, waiting for pain that never came.

“Why’s she still sleeping anyways?” I heard Daisy grumble, walking past my room.

I had gotten used to waking up with headaches a week ago. I was a bit shocked when I woke up without any. I felt normal once again, and I didn’t think twice before making my way towards the living room where everyone else was.

“Good morning, Mom. Good morning, Dad.” I greeted them as I got to them, rubbing my face with the back of my hand.

Mum turned to look at me with a smile. “Sweetheart, you’re up early today. Did you sleep well?”

“I’m fine, mum. I’m sorry I’ve not been going to the cinema with you all. I’ve just been feeling weird lately. I’m fine
