The tension that came from the bond was worse than watching anything happen to Daphne physically. She hadn’t called back or said anything to me, but I could sense it through the bond that she just saw something that almost knocked the breath out of her.

The bond started to twist painfully, compelling me to go over to Daphne and comfort her as much as I could. It wanted me to take away every bit of pain and panic in her.

I stared at the incoming text message from the private investigator and that took my mind off the bond for a second as I knew that he was about to tell me something very important. I quickly sent a text to the head guard overlooking Daphne’s house.

He assured me that she was safe inside with her sister and that managed to calm me down. Maybe she’s just discussing something secretive with her sister.
