“The Morning of Lionel’s 4th Birthday”

Warmth. That was the first thing I felt.

Not from the morning sun pouring through the tall windows, but from the man whose arms were wrapped around me like I was the most precious thing in the world. His chest rose and fell gently behind me, his breath brushing softly against my hair, and his warm body heat soothed me.

Xander. My husband.. My Alpha. My love.

Even after all these years, waking up in his arms still made my heart flutter like the first time he kissed me. His embrace was steady, secure. The kind of warmth that made you forget there had ever been cold. I smiled to myself, letting my fingers trace the pattern of his knuckles resting just above my stomach.

“I know you’re awake already,” he murmured groggily, his voice still husky with sleep.

I giggled, rolling to face him, as my eyes laid on his face my stomach did a back flip. “And how would you know that, my Alpha?”
