"Scarlett. Wake up." Belly shook her. She removed the blanket from Scarlett's body and roused her once more. "Scarlett. You've locked yourself in since Friday. At the very least, eat something. I often wonder how you survive when you don't eat for a day or two."

"To get you to the breakfast table."

"Don't be concerned. You are not required to attend church today. You haven't been going since daddy left us. Get up." Belly dragged Scarlett up by the hand.
"But I don't want to."
Belly immediately covered her nose. "Scarlett, your breath stinks. Brush your teeth and come downstairs to meet me. If I don't see you there in the next 10-15 minutes, I'll come back up."
