Chapter 74. He Is Gone

I watch through blurred vision as Ethan leaves Ezra’s bedroom. Tears are streaming down my face as I stare at the empty doorway and will him to come back to me. In my mind I picture him running back into the bedroom and professing his undying love for me. But the longer I through the door I realize that isn’t what is going to happen. He actually cut me free. The only person, besides Ezra, that has been on my mind for the past three years and he is gone.

Wrapping my arms around myself, I sink to the floor of Ezra’s bedroom and let the soft sobs of heartbreak take over my body. Drawing my knees to my chest I curl myself into a tight ball. As I sit on his floor crying Ezra runs into his room and takes one look at me and then runs back out. Quickly I wipe the tears from my eyes and chase Ezra from his room. I watch painfully as he wraps his arms around Ethan’s legs and begs him not to go.

Ethan crouches down to Ezra’s level and holds him gently in his arms. The exchange a fe
