With each passing second, Liya’s emotions settled, though her heart still raced. She replayed the conversation in her mind, each word etching itself into her memory. She felt a mixture of hurt, confusion, and an overwhelming need to understand the situation.
Finally, Liya opened her eyes and took another deep breath. She straightened up, her resolve strengthening. She knew she couldn’t avoid facing the truth, even though it hurt.
With a deep breath, she turned and headed back to the living room, ready to confront the whizz and the emotions that came with it.
Liya entered the living room and found Samuel sitting there. She walked up to him, her voice gentle.
“Hey, Sam, everything okay?” she asked, concern evident in her tone.
Samuel looked at her and nodded. “Yeah, no worries,” he replied softly.
She looked around and noticed Jota’s absence. “I saw Jota here earlier. Where did he go?” she inquired, her curiosity piqued.
