Chapter 25
A few minutes into noon, Mitchell snapped the case file shut. Placing her elbows on the desk, she placed her chin on her open palm and started unseeingly at the wall a few feet away. Her mind had kept wandering back to the ‘dream’ she’d had the previous night, which had turned out to be a reality, and her father’s confrontation that morning.
She was still finding it hard to wrap her head around how Martha had been killed by a driyn in her dream and also in reality.
On the other hand, the home had fast become an abode filled with spikes piercing and tearing into her skin, leaving her wanting out. And oh, how she wished she could get herself somewhere far away from home, far from the questions, accusatory glances, and, most particularly, her father’s unceasing confrontations.
