Serena POV
I woke slowly, and my head felt heavy like a stone had been dropped inside it. My eyes opened, but the world was blurry, and my mouth was dry, and every breath scraped against my throat.
For a moment I couldn’t even remember where I was, and I lay still, trying to make sense of the shadows moving around me.
Myles.. That was the only name coming to my head at the time, and all I could think of, him coming to rescue me from whatever nightmare that was.
The floor under me was cold, and I blinked hard until shapes came clear in my sight. A dim light shone somewhere above, throwing long shadows against the walls, and I noticed that the room was bare and dark. This was just a typical bad guy hideout, and I knew it.
A few men stood near the far wall, talking in low voices and their faces blurred in and out as I fought the fog inside my head.
