Chapter 117
Myles POV
The metal stayed cold against my back as I froze.
“Don’t move,” the voice said again.
Something in the tone made me pause. It was high, lighter than I expected, and I slowly raised my hands and turned around.
A kid stood there, a girl. She couldn’t have been more than twelve, and she held a shotgun pointed at my chest, but the way her fingers gripped it made me tense for another reason, one wrong twitch and she might blow a hole through herself or me.
“Easy,” I said quietly.
“Shut up,” she barked. “I know how to use it.”
Her small hands shook a little as she tried to steady the gun, and the barrel wavered between my chest and the floor.
“You’re holding it wrong,” I told her, keeping my voice calm. “Keep your finger off the trigger unless you’re ready to fire. And your shoulder…”
“I don’t want tips,” she snapped with eyes flashing. “I said I know what I’m doing.”
