Serena POV

I didn’t like Naomi, not one bit, but I wasn’t going to let her walk all over me. Not anymore. The woman who took my best friend title and my husband once thought I’d stay quiet forever, but those days were long gone.

I held my head high as she sneered at me in the lobby.

“You think a marriage in the Voss family makes you a Boss Lady?” she hissed. “Don’t fool yourself, Serena. You’re nothing more than a placeholder, and everyone knows it.”

I was about to tell her exactly where she could shove her insults when suddenly Myles’ tall figure appeared behind her, and the air shifted instantly.

Naomi froze mid-word. Her lips clamped shut as if someone had stolen her tongue. For the first time since she began throwing her venom, she looked nervous.
