Chapter 21. Finally

Gwen didn’t sleep a wink that night. All she could think about was what Evander meant about the gift he gave her.

The next morning, since she couldn’t get herself to sleep, she went out of her room and found Evander seated on a single chair with a mug of coffee in his right hand and reading the morning paper on the other.

“Good morning, Coffee?” he asked when he noticed her presence.

She waved her hands, signaling him No. She ignored Evander and went straight to the kitchen to whip herself breakfast before they got off the island.

She still has work waiting for her back at the front desk, and the thing that happened last night- it was all a mistake. She was just carried away by the current of events.

Gwen flinched when she felt a hand snake on her waist.

“That’s one deep sigh. A penny of your thoughts?” he said as he snuggled behind her.

But Gwen didn’t respond. Instead, he pushed his hand away and took a few steps back.
