Chapter 40. How It All Began

Alpha William's POV

My throat was parched and a burning pain was washing through me. My breathing was hitched and my head was throbbing. 

The silver shackles on both my wrists continued to burn my skin, causing it to sizzle, the pain excruciating.  I was so weak but it was the thoughts of my daughter and grandson that kept me going.

[Flashback: Three days ago]

It was the early hours of the evening, I was sitting in the courtyard of the manor house when Tom came rushing in.

“Three members of the pack have gone missing,” he informed, and then showed me three letters, which all bore the same watermark.

“This paper is not being sold anywhere so there is no way it was our pack members that sent us these. I think someone has captured them and sent us these letters to keep us from discovering that…”

I examined the letters more closely. “Did you find out where these papers came from?”
