Chapter 143. The President’s Agony
“You know you don't have to go with us.” I said to Celine.
“Oh, but I want to.” Celine insisted. “The President's daughter is missing and I know my presence might not do much but I just want to show concern. I met her once and she was one smarty mouth with plenty of sass to go around.”
I sat with her in the backseat, covertly studying her expression for hint she might have heard anything. But nothing. I didn't have anything to worry about then.
She had possibly heard nothing and was just showing concern just as she'd said. I didn't have the heart to insist she went home. If whatever decision she was taking sat right with her, then no problem.
I just hoped the President was too distracted to make a scene over her appearance in his office.
Zion and Miss Nancy were home. He was still sleeping.
“I'm sorry I forgot to tell the kitchen staff to get you food. On our way home, I'll buy you dinner.” I promised.
