Chapter 31. At the Event
“Was that you in the video?” A reporter shoved his mic in my face as soon as I stepped out of the vehicle Jared had opened for me — another public show of his pretending to be a loving husband.
I almost lost my balance in my heels as eyes were all on me... and Jared.
I tried to gauge his reaction, but there was only calmness that had nothing to do with peace, but rather the stifling urge to explode in anger.
“Mr. Johnson, how do you feel seeing your wife involved in such illicit activities, especially with your reputation in the country?” another asked, also trying her best to break through Jared's wall of security surrounding us.
He didn't say anything. My heart thudded in my chest as series of emotions whirled within like a tornado, threatening to blow me off my feet.
