I have never seen my father this angry before. But most of all, I have never seen him look at me with such disappointment in his eyes.

“Mattias. What the hell are you doing with my daughter?” my father shouted, his voice a low growl as he stepped closer, his fists clenched at his sides.

I took a step back, scared of what he might do, but Mr. Mattias stood his ground. “Derry, it’s not what you think—”

Before Mr. Mattias could finish, my father’s fist connected with Mattias’s jaw. The force of the punch sent him staggering back, but he quickly regained his footing, a look of shock crossing his face.
