Chapter 28
“Who wants food? I brought you ladies some fish and chips.” Liam smiles, carrying the bags of takeaway over to us. Sitting down, we eat, talking and laughing like we usually do. It feels nice. I have missed Liam. He has been avoiding me or, so it would seem. So now is a good time, just like before, before my birthday, before Jackson, before all the mess.
“Alena, I'm happy that you're with Jackson. You look really happy.” Liam smiles. That is a shock. I never expected him to accept us that quickly.
“Thank you, Liam. I am still sorry for hurting you, though, but I am really happy with Jackson.” Smiling at him, he smiles back, continuing eating.
“Are you not seeing him tonight?” He looks at me, waiting for my answer.
“He's working tonight, so I'm staying here.” I wish he wasn't, but I can't keep him to myself all the time.
