Chapter 84

Her eyes were still glistening with tears. 

“Yeah, I know. It was Katara. She got sent back into her body.”

“But–but how?” 

“The Moon goddess. She took me into the spirit world and there I saw Katara. The place was so beautiful, mom. There was so much peace, joy, and love radiating from everywhere,” I explained. “She told me that Katara was ready to be sent back to her body and that I was ready to get sent back to my own body.” 

My mom breathed out a shaky sigh and a tear escaped her eye. “Did…um, did you see him? Did you see your father? I mean, did you see Dalton?” Hope glimmered in her eyes. 

I felt pain filling my chest and my breathing became heavy. “No.” My voice broke. I swallowed and then spoke again, “He was gone.” A tear escaped my eye, and before I knew it, I was full-on crying. 

My mom pulled me into her arms and I sobbed loudly. “It’s okay, my baby. It’s okay.”
