“But there was no way in hell that I was going to stay there to study like a lab rat,” Gloria said as she broke the hug with me. She chuckled and I could not help but laugh too. “Thank you so much, dear.” She flashed me a bright smile. 

Jade breathed out a sigh that showed that he was not stressed but happy. He closed the distance between us and hugged me tightly. “You have no idea how much I want to kiss you right now,” He whispered so only I could hear it. 

I returned the hug and my cheeks heated up at his words. “Okay,” I replied dumbly. I chuckled at myself because I did not know how to respond to him. 

When we broke the hug, Jade wiped the tears that had escaped his eyes. “I have to head to work soon. I had someone cover for me but I gotta get back soon,” He informed us. 

“I guess it’s time for you two to be on your way too.” Gloria smiled. She was referring to my mom and me. 

“Um, I guess.” I glanced at my mom and she shrugged.&n
