Chapter 150

The detective blinked rapidly for a few seconds and then cleared her throat before speaking. “Excuse me? I don’t think I heard you clearly.” 

“I said that Alex is innocent and he shouldn’t be in prison, I should.”

“And you think I don’t know that? I’m a goddamn detective for crying out loud. I know that Alex Harding is innocent.”

“Then why did you send him to prison?” 

She scoffed lightly. “I didn’t send him to prison, he did that all by himself when he confessed to a crime he had nothing to do with.” 

I adjusted my weight on the couch and got closer to the detective. “Which is why I’m coming forward now. I want him out.” 

She stood to her feet and began to laugh. Not just a chuckle, but full-on laughing. “You really think that we’re playing a game here, do you?” She continued to laugh, and I felt slightly annoyed. 

“I didn’t say that we were. I’m here so we can put an innocent man out of prison.”
