The next morning at the assembly, the principal asked us to inform our families about the moon dance coming up. This had been on Lulu’s calendar for a while, and I could tell that she had been waiting patiently for the time the moon dance would be announced to the entire school.

“Are you going to ask Abe to be your plus one for the dance?” Lulu raised a question despite knowing what was happening.

“I do not know, maybe?” I replied to her question.

Lulu grinned and then began scrapping through the guys in class—the handsome ones she would most likely want to go with as a date for the dance.

After class, everyone left to plan their dates for the moon dance happening in a few weeks. Lulu also abandoned me to find a date, and the sooner she got one the faster I’d become.
