Chapter 22. I Regret

The next day was Monday. Bushra was already seated in her office before the day had gone far. She heard a knock at the door, and it swung open. She rubbed her temple as she heaved a sigh before she saw the intruder. It was her boss – who else would barge in that way?

“Hey, Bushra, good morning.” Mercy walked in, plumped down on the client’s chair, and placed a cup of latte on the table.

Bushra looked up and fixed her eyes on Mercy. What was she doing in her office during work hours?

“Mercy, good morning.” Bushra returned her focus to her computer, signaling that she was busy.

However, Mercy adjusted her sitting position to get more comfortable.

“I bought this for you – from Nosta café,” Mercy said softly.

Bushra smiled as she took a sip of her hot latte. “Thanks, Mercy. I really needed that.” She put the cup down on the table and turned her attention back to Mercy.

“Don’t mention it. So, I’ve been wanting to ask you…”
