Briar’s POV

I played with Finn’s and Luna’s hair as they slept on my lap in the living room of the Lycan Kings’ estate.

My head was silent. Maybe the human didn’t need to accept the siren... maybe I needed to accept myself.

Accept who I am.

I was probably traumatized enough that I created separate identities to cope with what happened to me. The human consciousness, the siren, even the dormant werewolf—maybe they were all just fragments of one broken person trying to survive.

"Here," Kylan said softly, appearing beside me with a small box. "I picked these up in town earlier."

I looked down to see delicate French macarons in pastel colors nestled in tissue paper.

"Does this siren still like sweet stuff?" he asked with a gentle smile.
