Briar’s POV

The revelation that Malachar was my half-brother hung in the air like poison. I stood frozen in the doorway of my chambers, trying to process information that seemed impossible yet made terrible sense.

"Briar," Kai said carefully, stepping toward me. "We need to talk about this."

"About what?" I asked, my voice coming out hollow. "About how I’ve been negotiating with family? About how the man trying to resurrect my father is actually my mother’s firstborn son?"

"About the Council summons," Kieran said quietly. "They want all of us. But they specifically demanded you as a prisoner."

"Of course they did," I said bitterly. "Because that’s what I am now, a threat to be contained, not a person to be protected.." I scoffed. "Humans, they fear anything that’s new to them. not knowing me going into prison would be their greatest mistake ever."
