Ten minutes into the silence was when I realized it.

I’m alone.

Alone in the sense that I no longer have anyone to be by me. To be there for me.

And perhaps I was too blinded by guilt that I failed to realize that everyone I ever had, or thought I had, just left.

The first to leave was my mother.

There was a time she used to be there for me, but after the accident, if I can even call it that, we no longer relate on a mother and son level. Now, all she cares about is continuing Adrian’s legacy.
