"Keith," Winifred called, walking towards us with a small smile. She stopped in front of us and turned to Matthew, her eyes meeting his. "Matt," she said, her voice slightly softer than before. I glanced at Matthew, whose expression was unreadable. It was as though he was trying to remain calm in Winifred's presence.
Just like how he had stood stupidly and almost embarrassed himself.
Had I not pulled him away from there, Santos who hadn't been focusing on where he was going would have spilled some drinks on his shirt and I bet that would call for more attention and I know he wouldn't like it either, he might just faint at the attention he was getting and I had to save his ass because it's my mum's funeral.
Nothing must go wrong! And not even he should spoil the fun and make us look uncultured with our event.
My attention was still on him while I tried to get the reason why he was still looking that way at Winifred.
