"I'll always tell you the truth," she said. "I'm not trying to make you mad. You're amazing. The most amazing person I've met since Patrick."
I laughed, which pushed away the slight tension that had come between us.
"I will never be mad at you for pursuing pleasure," I said. "I'm sort of... astonished. Jealous. And I'm also scheming. We can have some fun, babe. Don't think we won't. There's just a lot of planning to do!"
I got the sense that Kat had held something back about Patrick, but I didn't dwell on it. We were into the home stretch on our Vegas trip, and I wanted to enjoy it.
