Freya POV

With my eyes on him, I bobbed my head, chewing at the same time as I listened keenly to how he talked about his daughter and how he came to the mall to get his daughter a gift because some miscreants had ruined her birthday party. He talked about how he ended up yelling at her and hoped that the gifts would somehow appease her.

“That was why you came all the way here?”

He took a sip of his juice. “The gift that she wanted, I heard that the last edition is in this mall. It is a rare vinyl record and my daughter hopes to become a musician someday,”

“Aww” I bit into my sandwich, stealing a glance at him, watching as he stared into the phone with a bright smile on his face. But in his eyes, I saw a troubled soul or maybe, I was overthinking things like always.

I cleared my throat. “Why did you change your name then? I honestly never knew that you were the Nigel my cousins talked about. Cedric is a nice name, you shouldn’t have changed it”
