Layla’s POV
“You were in my house, and I begged you to help me, but you did not.”
I watched as Beverly rose from her seat and paced her tiny living room. You would think she was avoiding my question, but I knew better. She would not be able to avoid it as long as I was just a few feet away from her in this confined space. So, I knew that she was probably looking for a way to give me a proportional answer to that question. So I remained still and waited.
