Isabella’s POV

“If Logan suspects you that it’s your business, you’re running out of time. Get the files, or I’ll make sure you regret it.”

I felt a rush of anger rise in me. Jaden always acted as if he held all the cards, as if I were some pawn in his game.

But he didn’t understand how precarious my position was.

Jaden has forgotten that without me, he wouldn’t get the Logan properties file.

The boy said something then, his voice cheerful, and Logan laughed, the sound warm and genuine.

For a moment, I envied their simplicity, their ability to live in the moment without the weight of lies and secrets dragging them down.

Logan turned to me, his smile soft. “I can’t thank you enough for this, Isabella. Having him here…it’s everything I’ve ever wanted.”

I nodded, forcing a smile. “I’m glad, Logan. Truly.”
