Isabella’s POV

Did he say something he wasn’t supposed to?

Does Logan suspect anything?

I swallowed hard, forcing myself to stay calm as I met Logan’s gaze.

“Kids,” I said lightly, trying to brush off any potential suspicion. “They always say the most surprising things.”

“I mean did you promise to get him any toy?” Logan asked me then came to me that the little boy haven’t said anything wrong and it must be Jaden who must have promised to get him a big toy if he was calm.

“Of course but not today.” I played along.

Logan chuckled, his attention fully on the boy again.

But I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was slipping through my fingers, that the perfect illusion I’d worked so hard to create was starting to crack.

As Logan carried the boy toward the couch, I stayed rooted to the spot
