Chapter 388
Jaden's POV
I leaned back, letting my head rest against the cool headboard. The room was spinning slightly, the effects of the whiskey still strong.
I closed my eyes, trying to block out the ache in my chest, the emptiness that her absence had left behind.
And then I heard it again.
“Jaden!”
This time, the voice was closer, more insistent. My eyes snapped open, and I sat up straight, my heart pounding.
Before I could process what was happening, the door to my room creaked open. My grandfather stepped inside, his expression calm but his eyes holding a spark of something… something I couldn’t quite place.
“Son,” he said, his voice steady. “I think she’s back.”
His words hit me like a thunderbolt. I stared at him, my mind struggling to catch up. “What?” I finally managed to say, my voice hoarse.
“She’s back,” he repeated, stepping further into the room.
