Jason’s POV

She gave me a small smile, her hand lingering on my arm for a moment before she pulled away. “Well, if you ever want to talk, I’m here.”

I nodded, watching as she walked back into the living room.

Once she was gone, I let out a long breath, my shoulders sagging under the weight of my thoughts. I didn’t have the answers, didn’t know how long I could keep this up.

But as I stood there, staring at the empty doorway, one thing became painfully clear: I couldn’t let Logan win. Not this time. Not when Layla’s safety…and the safety of our child…was on the line.

For now, I would do whatever it took to keep them hidden, to keep them safe. But deep down, I knew the clock was ticking, and eventually, I would have to face the question I’d been avoiding.

For how long could I keep hiding Layla from Logan? And what would happen when I couldn’t anymore?
