Damien was already at school, thank God. I didn’t want him to see me like this…lost, weak, fragile.
He needed to see his mother as strong, unshakable, just like I’d always been. He didn’t need to know how badly I was falling apart.
I leaned back against the plush couch, my eyes drifting to the chandelier above, its crystals sparkling in the morning sunlight.
Everything in this house was perfect, carefully chosen to reflect the life I wanted people to see. But perfection was just an illusion, a façade that crumbled the moment Logan walked out the door and refused to come back.
My phone chimed, breaking the silence. I placed the glass on the table and reached for the device, my heart skipping a beat as hope surged through me. Maybe it was Logan. Maybe he was finally calling me back.
