Layla's POV

She waved me off, her confidence unshaken. 

“Nonsense. I know what I’m doing. Besides, you like spicy food, don’t you?”

I hesitated, my stomach twisting with doubt. 

“Yeah, but… maybe not that spicy.”

She rolled her eyes, grabbing a spoon and scooping up a bit of the soup. 

“Here, taste it. I bet it’s perfect.”

I took the spoon from her, hesitating for a moment before bringing it to my lips. As soon as the liquid touched my tongue, my eyes widened, my throat instantly burning as the heat hit me like a freight train. 

I coughed, my eyes watering as I struggled to breathe, my mouth on fire.

“Oh my God!” I choked, my voice hoarse as I tried to catch my breath.
