Maddie's POV

I tried to focus on the task at hand, but my mind kept drifting back to the same place…Logan. 

If he was who I thought he was, if he was really the man who had broken Layla’s heart before, then this whole thing was a setup. 

He had hurt her once, and now he was coming back to do it again. I just couldn’t shake that thought.

“Do you want a little more volume in your hair, or is this good?” I asked, breaking the silence.

“I like it this way,” Layla said, a soft smile playing on her lips. “Thanks, Maddy. You always make me feel like a million bucks.”

I paused for a moment, unsure of how to respond. “You’re already a million bucks, Layla,” I said quietly, continuing with the hair.

Once I was satisfied with the way her hair looked, I moved on to her makeup. I kept it simple, accentuating her natural beauty with a light touch. 

A little mascara, some blush, and a nude lipstick, and she was ready.
