They nodded, their faces hard, determined. They knew what to do. They knew the consequences of failure.

I walked out of the room, the door slamming shut behind me, sealing in the screams of Vargas’s brother as my men went back to work.

I felt a strange sense of satisfaction, a dark pleasure at hearing his pain, at knowing Vargas was on his way, helpless, desperate to save his brother.
